추석 연휴 기간인 8일, 김영록 전라남도지사가 목포 청호경로당을 찾아 어르신들의 안부를 묻고, 생활 여건과 복지 현황을 세심히 점검했다.

이번 방문은 연휴에도 소외되는 어르신이 없도록 직접 현장을 찾아 마음을 나누고, 어르신들의 생생한 목소리를 듣기 위해 마련됐다.

김 지사는 어르신들과 따뜻한 명절 인사를 나누며, 생활 속 불편 사항과 복지 서비스에 대한 의견을 경청했다.

김 지사는 이날 현장에서 “전남도에 Open AI·SK 합작 데이터센터가 들어서 지역 발전이 가속화될 것”이라며, “어르신들이 자녀와 손주들을 위한 마음을 늘 이야기하시듯, 전남도는 앞으로 체감할 수 있는 복지 정책을 펼쳐 어르신을 든든히 모시고, 청년이 돌아오는 전남을 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

전남도는 도내 노인복지시설과 경로당에 관심을 기울이며 복지 사각지대를 줄이기 위한 다양한 정책을 추진 중이다.

특히 2026년도에는 어르신들의 경제적 자립을 지원하기 위해 노인 일자리를 확대하고, 기초연금 증액을 통해 안정적인 노후 생활을 도모할 계획이다.

이번 방문으로 어르신들은 명절 연휴에도 관심과 따뜻한 마음을 전하는 도지사의 세심한 배려를 느낄 수 있었으며, 지역사회에는 훈훈한 감동이 전해졌다.

During the Chuseok holiday on the 8th, Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, visited the Cheongho Senior Center in Mokpo to inquire about the well-being of elderly residents and closely inspect their living conditions and welfare services.
The visit was arranged to ensure that no elderly residents are neglected during the holiday period, allowing the governor to engage directly with the community and hear their firsthand experiences.
Governor Kim exchanged warm holiday greetings with the seniors and listened attentively to their concerns regarding daily inconveniences and welfare services.
At the site, he stated, “With the upcoming Open AI-SK joint data center in Jeonnam, regional development will accelerate. Just as seniors constantly think of their children and grandchildren, Jeonnam will continue to implement welfare policies that can be felt firsthand, care diligently for the elderly, and strive to create a province where young people want to return.”
Jeonnam Province continues to pay attention to senior welfare facilities and senior centers, implementing various policies to reduce welfare blind spots.
In particular, in 2026, the province plans to expand senior employment opportunities to support economic independence and increase the basic pension to ensure a stable life for the elderly.
