“보성쌀, 품질과 경쟁력 한 단계 도약!” 전남도, 통합RPC 시설현대화 준공

전남 쌀 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 보성군농협 통합RPC 시설현대화 사업이 마침내 완공됐다.

전라남도는 5일 보성군에서 준공식을 개최하고, 하루 80톤 가공 능력을 갖춘 최신식 시설을 선보였다.

이날 행사에는 김영록 전남도지사, 변상문 농림축산식품부 식량정책관, 김철우 보성군수, 이동현·김재철 전남도의원, 박서홍 농협경제지주 대표, 문병완 보성농협 조합장을 비롯한 전남지역 조합장과 조합원 등 1천여 명이 참석해 지역 쌀 산업의 새로운 도약을 축하했다.

149억 투입, 하루 80톤 가공·6천 톤 저장능력 확보

보성군농협쌀조합공동사업법인의 이번 시설현대화 사업은 2024년 1월부터 2025년 10월까지 추진됐다.

총사업비 149억 원(국비 40%, 도비 6%, 군비 14%, 자담 40%)이 투입됐으며, 부지면적 1만 927㎡(약 3,305평), 건축면적 4,499㎡(약 1,362평)에 달한다.

현미부 12톤, 백미부 10톤, 포장부 30톤, 원료투입부 30톤 등 가공라인 증설과 함께, 새로 구축한 사일로 5기를 포함해 총 6,000톤 규모의 저장시설을 확보함으로써 보성지역 쌀 산업 경쟁력 강화에 큰 기여가 기대된다.

2005년 설립 RPC, 조합원 소득 안정 견인

보성통합RPC는 2005년 보성농협, 벌교농협, 득량농협, 북부농협 4개 지역농협이 공동 투자해 설립했다.

올해는 2025년산 벼 2만 5천 톤 매입을 본격 추진, 조합원 농가 소득 안정을 견인하고 있다.

전남도, 지속적 쌀 산업 경쟁력 강화

전남도는 앞으로도 고품질 쌀 유통체계 강화와 농가 경영 안정 지원을 지속할 계획이다.

특히 가공시설 현대화를 통한 산업 경쟁력 제고와 지속 가능한 농업 발전 기반 마련에 중점을 둘 방침이다.

김영록 도지사는 “제값 받는 농정은 농업의 기본이자 핵심”이라며 “4개 농협이 힘을 모아 통합RPC를 완성한 만큼, 보성쌀이 더 높은 품질과 가격으로 소비자에게 사랑받길 기대한다.”고 강조했다.

전남도는 2020년부터 해남, 담양, 강진, 나주, 보성, 영암 등에서 총 1천억 원 규모의 가공시설 현대화 사업을 추진해 왔으며, 2026년에도 함평군 통합RPC 등 4개 RPC를 대상으로 총 195억 원 규모의 시설현대화를 단계적으로 진행할 계획이다.

“Boseong Rice Takes a Leap in Quality and Competitiveness!” Jeonnam Province Completes Modernization of Integrated RPC Facilities
The modernization project of the Boseong County Agricultural Cooperative’s Integrated Rice Processing Center (RPC), aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Jeonnam’s rice industry, has finally been completed.
Jeonnam Province held a completion ceremony on November 5 in Boseong County, unveiling the state-of-the-art facility capable of processing 80 tons of rice per day.
The ceremony was attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam, Byun Sang-moon, Director of the Food Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Kim Cheol-woo, Mayor of Boseong, Provincial Assembly members Lee Dong-hyun and Kim Jae-cheol, Park Seo-hong, CEO of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, Moon Byung-wan, Chairman of Boseong Agricultural Cooperative, as well as local cooperative heads and members, totaling around 1,000 participants to celebrate a new milestone for the region’s rice industry.
149 Billion Won Invested, 80 Tons Daily Processing & 6,000 Tons Storage Capacity
The modernization project of the Boseong County Agricultural Cooperative Rice Joint Business Corporation was implemented from January 2024 to October 2025.
The total project cost 149 billion won (40% national, 6% provincial, 14% county, 40% self-funded) covered a site area of 10,927 square meters (approximately 3,305 pyeong) and a building area of 4,499 square meters (approximately 1,362 pyeong).
Processing lines were expanded with 12 tons for brown rice, 10 tons for white rice, 30 tons for packaging, and 30 tons for raw material input, and five new silos were built, increasing total storage capacity to 6,000 tons. The project is expected to significantly enhance the competitiveness of the rice industry in Boseong.
RPC Established in 2005, Supporting Farmers’ Income Stability
The Boseong Integrated RPC was established in 2005 through joint investment by four local cooperatives: Boseong, Beolgyo, Deukryang, and Northern Cooperatives.
This year, the RPC is actively purchasing 25,000 tons of 2025-harvest rice, helping to stabilize the income of cooperative member farmers.
Jeonnam Province Continues to Strengthen Rice Industry Competitiveness
Jeonnam Province plans to continue strengthening the high-quality rice distribution system and supporting farm management stability.
The province will focus on enhancing industrial competitiveness and creating a sustainable agricultural development base through modernized processing facilities.
Governor Kim Young-rok emphasized, “Receiving fair prices is the core principle of agricultural policy. With four cooperatives joining forces to complete the integrated RPC, we hope Boseong rice will gain greater recognition for quality and command higher prices among consumers.”
Since 2020, Jeonnam Province has invested 1 trillion won in modernization projects for processing facilities in Haenam, Damyang, Gangjin, Naju, Boseong, and Yeongam. In 2026, modernization will be implemented in stages for four RPCs, including the Hapyeong Integrated RPC, with a total budget of 195 billion won.
