“평등·안전·삶의 질이 경쟁력이다”… 전남여성친화도시 주민참여단, 해남에서 미래를 말하다

전남도는 지난 19일 해남문화예술회관에서 2025년 전남여성친화도시 주민참여단 성과 공유회를 개최하고, 여성친화도시 9개 시·군 참여단과 함께 생활환경 개선과 안전 정책 강화를 위한 다양한 방안을 논의했다.

이날 행사에는 유미자 전남도 여성가족정책관, 이개호 국회의원, 손명도 해남부군수, 성혜란 전남여성가족재단 원장을 비롯해 지역 참여단 100여 명이 참석했다.

참석자들은 유공자 표창, 시군 네트워킹, 현장 소통 프로그램, 연간 활동 사례 공유 등을 통해 ‘도민이 체감하는 변화’를 만드는 데 한뜻을 모았다.

특히 해남군 제1~2기 여성친화도시 군민참여단장 김화성 단장이 사회적 약자 보호와 성평등 환경 조성에 앞장선 공로로 표창을 받아 눈길을 끌었다.

참여단은 일상 속 돌봄 체계 강화, 마을 안전 점검, 환경·교통 모니터링 등 지난 한 해 동안 추진한 활동들을 소개하며 지역별 성과를 공유했다.

유미자 여성가족정책관은 “여성친화도시는 누군가의 전담 업무가 아니라 내가 사는 마을을 내가 바꾸는 운동”이라며 “도민 모두가 안전하고 평등한 환경에서 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 전남도는 맞춤형 정책을 더욱 강화하겠다.”고 강조했다.

현재 전남의 여성친화도시 지정 지자체는 목포·여수·나주·광양·화순·장흥·강진·해남·완도 등 9개 시군이다. 전남도는 이를 바탕으로 생활환경 혁신을 위한 여성친화도시 활성화 지원사업, 전남형 여성친화 특화사업 등을 추진하며 지역 곳곳의 생활 인프라 개선에 속도를 내고 있다.

전남도 관계자는 “여성친화도시는 여성을 넘어서 노인·장애인·아이·모두에게 편안한 도시, 안전한 도시를 만드는 정책 플랫폼”이라며 “지역 공동체가 참여하는 변화의 힘이 전남의 미래 경쟁력이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

“Equality, Safety, and Quality of Life Are Our Competitiveness”

Jeollanam-do opened a grassroots platform in Haenam to create a “safe, equitable, and livable Jeonnam for all.”
The province held the 2025 Jeonnam Women-Friendly City Resident Committee Performance Sharing Conference on the 19th at the Haenam Culture & Arts Center, where resident representatives from nine Women-Friendly Cities discussed strategies for improving daily living conditions and strengthening safety policies.
The event brought together more than 100 participants, including Yumi-ja, Director of Jeonnam’s Gender and Family Policy Bureau, National Assembly Member Lee Gae-ho, Haenam Deputy Governor Son Myeong-do, and Seong Hye-ran, President of the Jeonnam Women & Family Foundation.
Participants joined in commendation ceremonies, inter-city networking, interactive communication programs, and presentations of annual activity achievements—reinforcing their shared commitment to creating changes that residents can truly feel.
A highlight of the day was the commendation awarded to Kim Hwa-seong, head of Haenam’s 1st and 2nd Women-Friendly City Resident Committees, recognized for her leadership in protecting vulnerable groups and promoting gender-equal community environments.
Resident committees presented activity cases from the past year, including strengthening everyday care systems, conducting village safety inspections, and monitoring environmental and transportation conditions.
Director Yumi-ja emphasized,
“Building a Women-Friendly City is not someone else’s job—it is a movement where residents take the lead in transforming their own communities. Jeonnam Province will continue to expand tailored policies so that all residents can plan their future in a safe and equitable environment.”
Currently, nine municipalities in Jeonnam—Mokpo, Yeosu, Naju, Gwangyang, Hwasun, Jangheung, Gangjin, Haenam, and Wando—are designated as Women-Friendly Cities. Based on this network, the province is accelerating living-environment improvements through the Women-Friendly City revitalization program and the “Jeonnam-style Women-Friendly Special Projects.”
A provincial official noted,
“A Women-Friendly City goes beyond the interests of women. It is a policy platform that builds cities where seniors, children, people with disabilities—everyone—can live comfortably and safely. The power of community-led change will be a major driver of Jeonnam’s future competitiveness.”
