해남 솔라시도가 대한민국 인공지능(AI) 산업의 심장부로 공식 진입했다.
국가 AI컴퓨팅센터 구축 사업이 본 궤도에 오르며, 해남이 ‘대한민국 AI 3대 강국 도약’의 중추 거점으로 자리매김하고 있다.

국가 AI컴퓨팅센터 설립을 위한 삼성SDS 컨소시엄의 현장 점검과 정기 협의가 잇따라 진행되며 사업은 순항 중이다.
최근 솔라시도 컨트리클럽에서는 국가 AI컴퓨팅센터 설립 태스크포스(TF) 제4차 정기협의가 열렸고, 이 자리에는 컨소시엄 관계자와 정부·유관기관, IT기업 관계자 등 50여 명이 처음으로 예정지를 직접 방문해 실행계획을 점검했다.

이번 회의에서는 우선협상대상자 선정 이후 특수목적법인(SPC) 설립, 투자 구조, 착공 일정 등이 집중 논의됐다.
특히 컨소시엄 관계자들은 약 40만 평에 달하는 부지 규모, 인접한 영암호 용수 확보 여건, 그리고 지반 안정성에 대해 “국가 핵심 인프라를 구축하기에 매우 우수한 조건”이라는 평가를 내놨다.

현장에는 네이버, 카카오 등 국내 주요 IT기업 관계자들도 다수 참석해, 향후 솔라시도를 중심으로 한 AI·데이터·클라우드 산업 투자 가능성을 직접 확인했다.

솔라시도가 단순한 개발 부지를 넘어 국내 AI 생태계의 실질적 집적지로 부상하고 있음을 보여주는 장면이다.
전력 공급 역시 핵심 쟁점으로 다뤄졌다.

대규모 AI컴퓨팅센터 운영에 필수적인 154kV급 변전소 구축과 관련해, 한국전력공사는 2028년 4월까지 변전소 설치를 완료하겠다는 명확한 일정을 제시하며 사업 안정성에 힘을 실었다.

국가 AI컴퓨팅센터는 정부의 국민성장펀드 첫 투자 대상으로 선정된 상징적 사업이다.
총 사업비 2조 6천억 원 규모로, 이 가운데 1조 7천억 원을 국민성장펀드를 통해 조달한다.
이는 AI를 단순한 산업이 아닌 국가 성장 전략의 핵심 인프라로 규정한 정부 정책 기조를 그대로 반영한다.

센터는 오는 4월 착공을 목표로 하고 있으며, 2028년까지 첨단 그래픽처리장치(GPU) 1만 5천 장 이상을 확보하고, 2030년까지 지속적으로 확충해 나갈 계획이다.
이는 국내 AI 연구·산업 전반의 연산 역량을 획기적으로 끌어올릴 기반이 된다.

해남 솔라시도는 이번 국가 AI컴퓨팅센터를 기점으로, AI·데이터센터·에너지(RE100)·IT기업 투자가 본격화되는 국가 전략 거점으로 빠르게 재편되고 있다.

지역 차원의 산업단지를 넘어, 대한민국 AI 경쟁력을 떠받치는 핵심 인프라의 출발점이 해남이라는 점에서 그 의미는 결코 작지 않다.

AI의 심장이 뛰기 시작했다. 그 중심에는 이제 해남 솔라시도가 있다.

“The Heart of Korea’s AI Begins to Beat in Haenam”
National AI Computing Center Launches a KRW 2.6 Trillion Transformation in Solaseado
Haenam’s Solaseado has officially entered the core of South Korea’s artificial intelligence (AI) industry.
As the National AI Computing Center project moves fully onto the main track, Haenam is positioning itself as a pivotal hub in Korea’s drive to become one of the world’s top three AI powerhouses.
The project is progressing smoothly, with on-site inspections and regular consultations led by the Samsung SDS–led consortium responsible for establishing the National AI Computing Center. Recently, the 4th regular meeting of the National AI Computing Center Task Force (TF) was held at the Solaseado Country Club. For the first time, around 50 participants—including consortium members, government and related agencies, and representatives from IT companies—visited the planned site in person to review the execution plan.
Key discussions at the meeting focused on the establishment of a special purpose company (SPC) following the selection of the preferred bidder, the investment structure, and the construction schedule. Consortium officials highly evaluated the site, noting that the approximately 400,000-pyeong site area, secure water resources from the nearby Yeongam Lake, and strong ground stability make it “an excellent location for building national core infrastructure.”
Representatives from major domestic IT companies, including Naver and Kakao, also attended the site visit, directly assessing the potential for future investment in AI, data, and cloud industries centered on Solaseado.
This scene underscored that Solaseado is emerging as a tangible cluster within Korea’s AI ecosystem, rather than merely a development site. Power supply was another key issue addressed during the meeting.
Regarding the construction of a 154-kV substation—essential for operating a large-scale AI computing center—the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) presented a clear timeline, committing to complete the installation by April 2028, thereby reinforcing confidence in the project’s stability.
The National AI Computing Center is a symbolic project, selected as the first investment target of the government’s National Growth Fund. The total project cost amounts to KRW 2.6 trillion, of which KRW 1.7 trillion will be financed through the National Growth Fund. This reflects the government’s policy stance of positioning AI not merely as an industry, but as a core pillar of national growth strategy.
Construction is scheduled to begin in April, with plans to secure more than 15,000 advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) by 2028 and continue expanding capacity through 2030. This will provide a foundation for dramatically enhancing Korea’s overall AI research and industrial computing capabilities.
With the National AI Computing Center as its anchor, Haenam’s Solaseado is rapidly transforming into a national strategic hub where investment in AI, data centers, energy (RE100), and IT companies will accelerate.
Beyond a regional industrial complex, the significance is profound: Haenam is becoming the starting point of the core infrastructure that will underpin South Korea’s global competitiveness in AI.
The heart of AI has begun to beat.
And now, that heart is in Haenam Solaseado.
