해남 솔라시도가 마침내 대한민국 에너지·AI 융합산업의 심장부로 도약할 실질적 발판을 마련했다.

8일, 전라남도와 한전KDN, 해남군, 그리고 서남해안기업도시가 손을 맞잡고 ‘에너지 특화 AI데이터센터 및 AI에너지 신산업 육성’을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하며, 솔라시도는 구상이 아닌 현실의 산업 거점으로 한 단계 도약했다.

이번 협약식에는 김영록 전남도지사를 비롯해 한전KDN의 박상형 사장, 명현관 해남군수, 서남해안기업도시의 김대한 대표가 참석해, 솔라시도를 중심으로 한 AI·에너지 신산업 시대 개막을 공식 선언했다.

이번 협약의 핵심은 분명하다.

에너지 생산·소비·계통·저장·송전 전 과정에서 발생하는 방대한 에너지 데이터베이스를 민간과 공유하고, 이를 AI 분석·활용이 가능한 데이터 인프라로 구축해 신산업을 창출하겠다는 것이다.

전력 운영과 정보통신기술(ICT)을 동시에 축적해온 한전KDN의 전문성과, 전남도의 에너지 자원·공공정책 역량이 결합되면서 에너지 통합관리 기반의 AI 산업 생태계가 본격 가동된다.

특히 이번 사업은 단순한 데이터센터 유치에 그치지 않는다.

전남도와 한전은 협업을 통해 에너지 데이터센터 분야 전문 인력 양성, 입주 기업에 대한 맞춤형 지원, 그리고 실증사업 패키지 발굴까지 전 과정을 함께 추진한다.

기업은 성장의 발판을 얻고, 청년은 미래 일자리를 찾으며, 지역은 지속 가능한 산업 구조를 갖추는 선순환 모델이 솔라시도에서 구현될 전망이다.

또한 솔라시도 내 공동 글로벌 센터와 장성의 파인 데이터센터를 기능별로 연계해, 전남 전역을 아우르는 분산형·특화형 AI에너지 데이터 허브 구축도 함께 추진된다.
이는 전남을 단일 거점이 아닌, 네트워크형 AI에너지 산업 권역으로 확장시키는 전략적 구상이다.

김영록 전남도지사는 이날 협약식에서 “이번 협약은 전남이 세계적인 AI·에너지 신산업과 연구의 중심지로 도약하는 출발점”이라며, “전문 인력 양성부터 실증사업, 기업 지원까지 이어지는 종합 패키지를 통해 기업과 청년이 함께 성장하는 AI 산업 생태계를 반드시 완성하겠다.”고 강조했다.

솔라시도는 이제 더 이상 미래형 계획도시가 아니다.
AI와 에너지가 결합된 대한민국 전략 산업의 실험실이자 전초기지로, 해남의 땅 위에서 새로운 국가 성장 엔진이 움직이기 시작했다.

AI 3대 강국 도약, 그 첫 장면은 지금, 솔라시도에서 쓰이고 있다.

Solaseado Brings Energy-Specialized AI Data Centers into Reality… Opening the Door to Jeonnam’s Next 100 Years
Haenam’s Solaseado has finally secured a tangible foothold to leap forward as the core hub of Korea’s energy–AI convergence industry.
On the 8th, Jeollanam-do Province, KEPCO KDN, Haenam County, and the Seonamhaean Enterprise City joined hands to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the promotion of energy-specialized AI data centers and AI-based energy new industries. With this agreement, Solaseado has advanced one step further—from vision to reality—as a genuine industrial base.
The signing ceremony was attended by Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok, KEPCO KDN President Park Sang-hyung, Haenam County Mayor Myung Hyun-kwan, and Kim Dae-han, CEO of Seonamhaean Enterprise City, formally declaring the opening of a new era of AI and energy industries centered on Solaseado.
The core of the agreement is clear.
It aims to share the vast energy databases generated across the entire energy value chain—production, consumption, grid operation, storage, and transmission—with the private sector, and to build a data infrastructure that can be analyzed and utilized by AI to create new industries.
By combining KEPCO KDN’s expertise accumulated in power operations and information and communication technology (ICT) with Jeonnam’s rich energy resources and public policy capabilities, an AI-driven industrial ecosystem based on integrated energy management is set to move into full operation.
Notably, this initiative goes far beyond simply attracting data centers.
Jeonnam Province and KEPCO will jointly pursue the entire process, including training specialized professionals in the energy data center sector, providing tailored support for tenant companies, and developing packaged demonstration projects.
Companies will gain a foundation for growth, young people will find future-oriented jobs, and the region will establish a sustainable industrial structure—creating a virtuous cycle expected to take shape in Solaseado.
In addition, Solaseado’s joint global center will be functionally linked with the Pine Data Center in Jangseong, forming a distributed, functionally specialized AI energy data hub spanning the entire province. This strategic plan expands Jeonnam from a single-point development into a networked AI energy industrial zone.
At the ceremony, Governor Kim Young-rok emphasized,
“This agreement marks the starting point for Jeonnam to rise as a global center of AI and energy new industries and research,” adding,
“We will certainly complete an AI industrial ecosystem in which companies and young people grow together—through a comprehensive package that connects talent development, demonstration projects, and business support.”
Solaseado is no longer merely a future-oriented planned city.
As an experimental ground and forward base for Korea’s strategic industries—where AI and energy converge—a new national growth engine has begun to move on the land of Haenam.
The first scene of Korea’s leap toward becoming one of the world’s top three AI powers is being written now, in Solaseado.
