전라남도해양수산과학원은 추석 연휴 기간인 10월 3~4일과 7~9일, 총 5일간 여수 해양수산과학관과 구례 섬진강 어류생태관을 정상 개관한다고 3일 밝혔다.

이번 개관은 귀성객과 관광객들에게 다양한 볼거리와 체험 기회를 제공하고자 마련됐다.

특히 가족 단위 방문객과 단체 관광객들에게 큰 인기를 끌고 있는 두 곳의 전시관은 생동감 넘치는 수족관과 최신 전시 트렌드를 반영한 체험 프로그램을 운영하며 관람객 만족도를 높이고 있다.

여수 돌산에 위치한 해양수산과학관은 한려수도 중심에 자리한 명소로, 능성어, 돔류 등 남해안 토산어종과 열대어 등 바다생물 100종, 5천여 마리를 전시한다. 방문객은 물고기 먹이주기, 닥터피쉬 체험, 그림 그리기 등 다양한 체험 프로그램을 즐길 수 있으며, 멸종위기 바다거북과 벤자리 특별전시를 통해 색다른 경험도 가능하다.

구례군 간전면에 위치한 섬진강어류생태관은 국내 최대 민물고기 전시관으로, 국내외 관상어와 섬진강 토종어류 145종 1만 4천 마리를 전시하고 있다.

어린이를 위한 생태체험 프로그램과 함께 ‘민속놀이 특별 체험 프로그램’을 운영, 제기차기와 투호 등 전통놀이를 즐기며 부모 세대는 추억을 되새기고, 아이들은 가족과 함께 특별한 시간을 보낼 수 있다.

김충남 전남해양수산과학원장은 “추석 연휴를 맞아 고향을 찾는 귀성객들이 다양한 체험과 볼거리로 힐링의 기회를 가지길 바란다.”며 “앞으로도 전남 대표 해양수산 전시 문화공간으로 도약할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.

Jeonnam Marine &Fisheries Science Institute Offers Families Special Memories This Chuseok Holiday
• Yeosu Marine &Fisheries Science Museum and Gurye Seomjingang Fish Ecology Center Feature Diverse Hands-On Programs -
The Jeonnam Marine &Fisheries Science Institute announced on October 3 that it will be open during the Chuseok holiday from October 3–4 and 7–9, welcoming visitors to the Yeosu Marine &Fisheries Science Museum and the Gurye Seomjingang Fish Ecology Center.
The special opening aims to provide holiday visitors and tourists with a variety of attractions and hands-on experiences.
Both facilities, popular among family groups and tour groups, feature vibrant aquariums and visitor-centered interactive programs designed according to the latest exhibition trends, enhancing visitor satisfaction.
Located in Dolsan, Yeosu, the Marine &Fisheries Science Museum is a well-known destination at the heart of the Hallyeohaesang region. It exhibits over 100 species of marine life, including local southern coastal fish such as rockfish and sea bream, as well as tropical species, totaling around 5,000 specimens. Visitors can enjoy interactive programs such as fish feeding, doctor fish therapy, and drawing activities. Special exhibitions, including endangered sea turtles and the unique benchari, offer a distinctive educational experience.
The Seomjingang Fish Ecology Center in Ganjeon-myeon, Gurye, is the country’s largest freshwater fish exhibition center, showcasing 145 species of native and ornamental fish with a total of 14,000 specimens. The center offers regular ecological programs for children, as well as a Special Folk Game Experience Program, where visitors can enjoy traditional games such as jegichagi (kicking shuttlecocks) and tuho (arrow-throwing). Parents can reminisce about childhood memories while children share a special time with their families.
Kim Chung-nam, Director of the Jeonnam Marine &Fisheries Science Institute, said, “We hope that holiday visitors returning home for Chuseok will enjoy these diverse experiences and attractions as a chance to relax and recharge. We will continue our efforts to develop the institute into a leading cultural space for marine and fisheries exhibitions in Jeonnam.”
