2025 국제농업박람회가 농업의 가치를 직접 체험할 수 있는 ‘수확 프로그램’으로 큰 인기를 끌고 있다.
박람회 마지막 날인 29일 오후 3시, 나주 전라남도농업기술원 내 ‘풍요의 정원’에서는 목화솜 수확 무료 체험행사가 열린다.
‘풍요의 정원’은 전남도농업기술원과의 협력으로 토양관리부터 육묘까지 세심하게 가꿔온 공간으로, 목화·조·기장·해바라기·코스모스 등 다채로운 작물이 만개해 관람객들의 발길을 붙잡고 있다.
또한 전남에서 육성한 고추 품종 ‘남초’를 비롯해 세계에서 가장 매운 고추, 하늘을 향해 자라는 고추, 우산 모양의 고추 등 16종의 다양한 고추 품종이 전시돼 있어, 농업의 다양성과 품종 개발 성과를 한눈에 살필 수 있다.

정원 한편에는 폐농자재와 볏짚을 활용한 이색 조형물과 현대식 체류형 쉼터가 마련돼, 관람객들이 시골의 정취를 느끼며 쉴 수 있는 힐링 공간으로 활용되고 있다.
이번 수확체험은 박람회 입장객이라면 누구나 무료로 참여할 수 있다.
박관수 국제농업박람회 사무국장은 “목화솜 수확체험을 통해 중장년층은 어린 시절의 추억을, 청소년은 농촌의 아름다움과 소중함을 느낄 수 있길 바란다.”고 전했다.
앞서 지난 25~26일에는 전남농업기술원 체험장에서 **‘가족과 함께하는 단감 수확 체험’**과 ‘우리 가족 추억 한 상자! 신나는 고구마 캐기’ 프로그램이 열려 가족 단위 참가자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

단감 체험은 가족당 5kg을 직접 수확해 가져가는 방식으로 진행됐으며, 참가자들은 “직접 딴 단감이라 더 달고 맛있다”며 웃음 지었다.
26일 열린 고구마 캐기 프로그램에서도 가족들은 밭에서 직접 고구마를 캐며 자연 속 수확의 기쁨을 만끽했다.
수확한 고구마 6kg이 참가자들에게 제공돼 풍요로운 가을의 추억을 선사했다.
한편, 2025 국제농업박람회는 ‘AI와 함께하는 농업혁신, 생명 키우는 K-농업’을 주제로 29일까지 7일간 나주 산포면 전라남도농업기술원 일원에서 열리고 있다.

Cotton Harvest Event Gains Popularity at the International Agricultural Expo’s ‘Garden of Abundance’**
– Free cotton harvest experience on the 29th, following persimmon and sweet potato programs –
The 2025 International Agricultural Expo is drawing strong interest with its “harvest experience” programs that allow visitors to directly experience the true value of agriculture.
On the final day of the Expo, October 29 at 3 p.m., a free cotton harvest event will be held at the Garden of Abundance inside the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services in Naju.
The Garden of Abundance has been carefully cultivated in collaboration with the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, with meticulous soil management and seedling cultivation. The garden is now in full bloom with cotton, millet, sorghum, sunflowers, and cosmos, captivating visitors with its colorful scenery.
The garden also showcases 16 varieties of chili peppers, including Namcho, a locally developed Jeonnam variety, the world’s hottest chili, upward-growing varieties, and umbrella-shaped peppers—offering a glimpse into the diversity and innovation of modern agricultural breeding.
In addition, creative installations made from recycled farming materials and rice straw, along with modern resting spaces, provide visitors with a place to relax and enjoy the charm of the countryside.
The cotton harvest event is free for all Expo visitors.
Park Kwan-soo, Secretary General of the International Agricultural Expo, said,
“Through the cotton harvest experience, we hope older generations will recall the nostalgia of their childhood, while younger visitors discover the beauty and importance of rural life.”
Earlier, on October 25–26, the Expo hosted popular family events such as “Family Persimmon Harvest Experience” and “A Box of Family Memories! Exciting Sweet Potato Digging” at the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services experience field.
During the persimmon event, families harvested up to 5 kilograms of ripe persimmons to take home, with participants commenting, “They taste even sweeter because we picked them ourselves.”
The sweet potato digging program, held on the 26th, also attracted many families who enjoyed the joy of harvesting in nature. Each participating family received 6 kilograms of freshly harvested sweet potatoes, taking home a taste of the season’s abundance.
Meanwhile, the 2025 International Agricultural Expo, themed “Agricultural Innovation with AI: Growing Life through K-Agriculture,” runs for seven days until October 29 at the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services in Sanpo-myeon, Naju.
