전라남도가 2026년 적용 생활임금을 시급 1만 2천305원, 월급 기준 257만 1천745원으로 확정했다고 밝혔다.

이는 전국 17개 광역자치단체 가운데 4위 수준으로, 올해 고용노동부가 고시한 최저임금 1만 320원보다 1천985원 높은 금액이다.

이번 생활임금은 2025년 시급 1만 930원에서 375원 인상된 금액으로, 하루 8시간, 주 5일 근로 기준(월 209시간)으로 환산하면 월 7만 8천375원이 증가했다.

전남도 생활임금위원회는 노동계, 경영계, 학계 전문가들이 참여해 최저임금, 물가 상승률, 유사 근로자 임금 수준 등을 종합적으로 검토한 후 심도 있는 논의를 거쳐 이번 금액을 결정했다.

2026년 1월 1일부터 전남도와 도의회, 산하 지방공사·출자·출연기관 소속 근로자, 그리고 전남도 위탁 사업 수행 민간 기관·단체 근로자에게 적용된다.

단, 지방공무원법 적용자와 공공근로 등 국가 동일 임금 체계를 적용받는 근로자는 제외된다.

서은수 전남도 일자리투자유치국장은 “어려운 경제 상황과 급격한 물가 상승으로 노동자들의 부담이 늘어나고 있는 상황에서, 생활임금 인상이 노동자의 안정적 생활과 삶의 질 향상에 도움이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

전남도는 지난 2015년 10월 ‘전남도 생활임금 조례’를 제정, 정부 최저임금 제도의 한계를 보완하고 노동자의 생활 안정과 여가·문화생활 보장을 위해 11년째 생활임금을 시행하고 있다.

“Jeonnam Province Sets 2026 Living Wage at 12,305 KRW per Hour… 1,985 KRW Higher Than Minimum Wage, 4th Highest Nationwide”
Jeonnam Province announced that the living wage for 2026 has been set at 12,305 KRW per hour, equivalent to 2,571,745 KRW per month.
This places the province 4th among the 17 metropolitan local governments nationwide and is 1,985 KRW higher than the minimum wage of 10,320 KRW announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor this year.
The 2026 living wage reflects an increase of 375 KRW from 2025’s rate of 11,930 KRW per hour. Based on an 8-hour workday and a 5-day workweek (209 hours per month), this translates to an increase of 78,375 KRW per month.
The Jeonnam Living Wage Committee, comprising experts from labor, business, and academia, carefully reviewed factors such as the minimum wage, inflation rate, and wages of similar workers, before finalizing the amount.
Starting January 1, 2026, the living wage will apply to employees of Jeonnam Province and its council, as well as employees of affiliated public corporations, investment and contribution institutions, and private organizations performing tasks commissioned by the province.
However, it does not apply to those covered under the Local Public Officials Act or public workers who are subject to the national uniform wage system.
Seoeun Su, Director of Jeonnam Province’s Job Investment and Attraction Bureau, stated, “Amid challenging economic conditions and rapidly rising prices, the increase in the living wage is intended to support workers’ stable livelihoods and improve their quality of life.”
Jeonnam Province established the “Jeonnam Living Wage Ordinance” in October 2015 to supplement the government’s minimum wage system and has been implementing the living wage for 11 years to ensure workers’ financial stability and provide opportunities for leisure and cultural activities.
