전라남도는 11일 영암실내체육관에서 제30회 농업인의 날 기념행사를 열고, 기후변화 시대에 대응하는 첨단농업 대전환을 통해 전남 농업을 세계선도 농업으로 발전시키겠다는 비전을 공유했다.
농업인의 날은 농업의 가치와 농업인의 노고를 되새기기 위해 1996년부터 법정기념일로 지정되어 매년 11월 11일 기념하고 있다.
이번 행사는 전라남도와 영암군이 주최하고 (사)전남도농업인단체연합회가 주관했으며, 김영록 전남도지사, 이광일 전남도의회 부의장, 우승희 영암군수, 농업 관련 기관장, 농업인단체 대표, 22개 시·군 농업인 등 1,500여 명이 참석했다.
행사는 전남 농업인의 삶과 도전 정신을 담은 주제 영상 상영에 이어 농업발전 유공자 시상, 주제공연, 스마트농업 도약 퍼포먼스 순으로 진행됐다.
특히 이날 시상식에서는 고소득 쌀 생산, 친환경 농업, 축산경영, 과수·원예, 청년농 육성 등 5개 부문에서 우수 농업인이 선정되었으며, 농업발전 유공자 18명도 함께 표창을 받았다.

무대에서는 국악과 성악이 결합된 퓨전 공연과 원형 LED를 활용한 첨단 스마트농업 비전 퍼포먼스가 펼쳐지며 농업의 미래상을 시각적으로 표현해 참석자들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
김영록 도지사는 기념사에서 “기록적 폭우, 병해충, 고물가 등 어려운 상황에서도 농업과 식탁을 지킨 30만 전남 농업인께 깊은 존경과 감사를 드린다.”며
“탄탄한 농업 기반과 농업인의 자부심을 바탕으로 지속 가능한 첨단농업 대전환을 추진해 세계로 도약하는 글로벌 전남 농업시대를 열겠다”고 밝혔다.

Jeonnam Farmers Declare ‘Advanced Agriculture Transformation’… Bold Move to Lead Global Agriculture
— 30th Farmers’ Day celebrated in Yeongam, sharing pride and future agricultural vision —
Jeollanam-do held a commemorative ceremony for the 30th Farmers’ Day on the 11th at the Yeongam Indoor Gymnasium, sharing a vision to advance into a global leading agricultural region through an accelerated transition to high-tech agriculture in response to climate change.
Farmers’ Day has been designated as a legal commemorative day since 1996, honoring the value of agriculture and the dedication of farmers, and is celebrated every year on November 11.
This year’s event was jointly hosted by Jeollanam-do and Yeongam County, and organized by the Jeonnam Agricultural Organizations Council. Approximately 1,500 people attended, including Governor Kim Yung-rok, Jeonnam Provincial Council Vice-Chair Lee Gwang-il, Yeongam County Mayor Woo Seung-hee, agricultural organization leaders, and farmers from 22 cities and counties across the province.
The ceremony featured a themed video highlighting the lives and spirit of Jeonnam farmers, followed by awards for agricultural merit, a themed performance, and a smart-agriculture transformation showcase.
In the awards segment, outstanding farmers were recognized across five sectors—including high-income rice production, eco-friendly farming, livestock management, fruit and horticulture, and young farmers—along with 18 recipients of agricultural development merit awards.
The stage program included a fusion performance combining traditional Korean music and opera, as well as a smart agriculture vision performance using a circular LED display, visually expressing the future direction of Jeonnam agriculture and receiving enthusiastic response from attendees.
In his congratulatory remarks, Governor Kim Yung-rok stated:
“Despite record-breaking heavy rains, pest outbreaks, and rising prices, our 300,000 farmers have continued to safeguard our food supply and dinner tables. I express my deep respect and gratitude.”
“Based on strong agricultural foundations and the pride of our farmers, we will pursue a sustainable transformation into advanced agriculture and usher in a new era of global Jeonnam agriculture.”
Jeollanam-do is accelerating the shift from traditional farming to future-oriented agriculture through major initiatives, including:
National Subtropical Crop Demonstration Center in Jangseong (to be completed in 2027)
Agri-Food Climate Change Response Center in Haenam (planned for 2027)
AI-based Convergence Advanced Livestock Industry Valley
Green Bio Industry Development Programs
Through these efforts, the province aims to strengthen agricultural competitiveness and secure leadership in global agricultural innovation.
