전남도립미술관이 2025학년도 대학수학능력시험을 마친 수험생들을 위해 이달 30일까지 전시 무료 관람 이벤트를 운영한다.
본인의 수험표를 지참한 수험생은 누구나 무료로 입장할 수 있으며, 장기간 수험 준비로 지친 학생들이 예술을 통해 심리적 회복과 여유를 얻을 수 있도록 마련됐다.
현재 미술관에서는 기증작품전 ‘바람 빛 물결’, 전남국제수묵비엔날레 기념전 ‘블랙&블랙’. 프랑스 케브랑리-자크시라크 박물관·국립중앙박물관 공동기획전 ‘마나 모아나–신성한 바다의 예술, 오세아니아’ 등 총 3개의 주요 전시가 진행 중이다.
■ 기증 작품전 ‘바람 빛 물결’… 자연에서 찾은 남도의 미(美)
‘바람 빛 물결’은 도립미술관 기증 작품의 가치를 지역사회와 나누기 위해 기획됐다.
고화흠, 양계남, 윤재우, 천경자 등 한국 미술계를 대표하는 작가 11점이 전시되며, 남도의 자연을 각기 다른 시선으로 재해석한 작품들을 통해 기증 문화가 지닌 예술적·사회적 의미를 부각한다.
■ ‘블랙&블랙’… 동서양 거장이 펼치는 ‘검은색’의 예술적 깊이
수묵의 먹빛과 서구 블랙 회화를 현대적 관점에서 조명하는 특별전이다.
윤두서, 피에르 술라주, 한스 아르퉁, 이우환 등 동서양 대표 작가 20명과 70여 점의 작품이 참여해, 색채를 넘어선 ‘블랙’의 예술적 생명력과 교감을 탐구한다.
■ ‘마나 모아나’… 태평양의 영혼을 담은 오세아니아 예술
프랑스 케브랑리-자크시라크 박물관이 소장한 오세아니아 유물 171점과 현대 작가 8인의 작품이 소개되는 대형 국제 기획전이다.
‘마나(Mana)’는 신성한 힘, ‘모아나(Moana)’는 바다를 뜻하며, 전시는 태평양 원주민의 항해·정착·정체성의 세계관을 예술로 풀어낸다.
국내에서는 보기 드문 오세아니아 문화권 유물전으로 의미가 크다.
■ “예술이 수험생에게 건네는 따뜻한 쉼표”
이지호 전남도립미술관장은 “오랜 시간 노력한 수험생들이 예술 속에서 잠시 숨을 고르고 새로운 시작을 준비하길 바란다.”며 “전남도립미술관이 수험생들에게 따뜻한 문화적 안식처가 되길 기대한다.”고 말했다.

“Students, Take a Break at the Jeonnam Museum of Art”
— Free admission for exam-takers until the 30th… An artistic invitation to pause and breathe —
The Jeonnam Museum of Art is offering free admission to students who completed the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) until November 30.
Students who present their exam ID can enter all exhibitions at no cost. The initiative aims to provide emotional rest and a moment of calm through art for those worn out from long periods of exam preparation.
The museum is currently showcasing three major exhibitions:
the donation exhibition “Wind, Light, Waves,”
the Jeonnam International Ink Art Biennale commemorative exhibition “Black & Black,”
and the touring exhibition “Mana Moana – Art of the Sacred Ocean, Oceania,” jointly organized by France’s Musée du quai Branly–Jacques Chirac and the National Museum of Korea.
■ Donation Exhibition “Wind, Light, Waves”… Tracing the Beauty of Southern Nature
“Wind, Light, Waves” was curated to share the artistic value of works donated to the museum with the local community.
Featuring 11 pieces by renowned Korean artists including Go Hwa-heum, Yang Gye-nam, Yoon Jae-woo, and Chun Kyung-ja, the exhibition presents diverse interpretations of southern Korea’s natural landscapes while highlighting the cultural and social significance of art donations.
■ “Black & Black”… Exploring the Depth of Black Through Eastern and Western Masters
This special exhibition examines the resonance between East Asian ink painting and Western black abstract art from a contemporary perspective.
With around 70 works by 20 influential artists—such as Yoon Du-seo, Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung, and Lee Ufan—the exhibition delves into the artistic vitality, emotion, and expressive depth embodied in the color black.
■ “Mana Moana”… Oceania’s Spiritual World Rendered Through Art
“Mana Moana” features 171 Oceanian artifacts from the Musée du quai Branly–Jacques Chirac and works by eight contemporary artists.
‘Mana’ refers to sacred spiritual power, while ‘Moana’ means the sea.
The exhibition explores themes of navigation, settlement, and identity, offering a profound look into the worldview of Pacific Island cultures. It stands as a rare and meaningful opportunity to encounter traditional Oceanian heritage in Korea.
■ “A Warm Breathing Space for Exam-takers”
Lee Ji-ho, Director of the Jeonnam Museum of Art, said,
“We hope students who have devoted themselves to their studies can pause, breathe, and prepare for a new beginning through art.”
He added, “We aspire for the Jeonnam Museum of Art to be a warm and welcoming cultural haven for exam-takers.”
