기후에너지환경부 산하 국립호남권생물자원관(관장 박진영)이 함평군과의 전시·교육 협력 업무협약에 따라 「제28회 함평나비대축제」에 참여해 생물다양성 인식 확산에 나섰다.

국립호남권생물자원관은 지난 4월 24일부터 오는 5월 5일까지 전라남도 함평엑스포공원에서 열리는 이번 축제에서 전시·교육 체험부스를 운영하며, 관람객들에게 생태환경의 중요성을 체험형 콘텐츠로 전달하고 있다.

이번 체험부스는 ‘안녕 나비야! 반가워, 국립호남권생물자원관’을 주제로 마련됐다.
나비를 매개로 생물다양성과 기후변화의 의미를 쉽고 흥미롭게 이해할 수 있도록 기획된 참여형 프로그램이 중심이다.

전시 부문에서는 나비와 나방의 생태적 차이를 비교해 설명하고, 남방노랑나비 등 기후변화 지표종을 통해 환경 변화에 따른 생물다양성의 변화를 소개한다. 특히 실제 표본을 확대경으로 관찰하는 체험을 제공해 관람객들이 생물을 직접 탐구하며 이해를 높일 수 있도록 했다.

교육 프로그램도 눈길을 끈다. 유아와 초등학생을 대상으로 한 ‘나비 슈링클스 키링 만들기’ 체험은 열수축 종이에 나비를 그리고 가열 과정을 거쳐 열쇠고리를 제작하는 방식으로 진행된다. 이를 통해 어린이들이 생물에 대한 흥미와 창의력을 동시에 키울 수 있도록 구성됐다.

한편, 박진영 국립호남권생물자원관장은 4월 24일 열린 함평나비대축제 개막식에 참석해 행사 개최를 축하하고 현장 소통에 나섰다.

박 관장은 “관람과 체험이 결합된 프로그램을 통해 국민들이 생물다양성의 가치를 보다 가까이에서 느끼고 공감하는 계기가 되길 바란다.”고 밝혔다.

“Learning Biodiversity Through Butterflies”… National Institute of Honam Biological Resources Operates Experience Booth at Hampyeong Butterfly Festival
Interactive exhibition and education programs deliver climate and ecological values in a fun and engaging way
The National Institute of Honam Biological Resources (Director Park Jin-young), under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, is participating in the 28th Hampyeong Butterfly Festival in collaboration with Hampyeong County, promoting awareness of biodiversity through exhibition and educational programs.
From April 24 to May 5, the institute is operating an interactive exhibition and experience booth at Hampyeong Expo Park in Jeollanam-do, offering visitors hands-on opportunities to understand the importance of ecological environments.
The booth is themed “Hello Butterfly! Nice to Meet You, National Institute of Honam Biological Resources”, featuring participatory programs designed to help visitors easily and enjoyably learn about biodiversity and climate change through butterflies.
In the exhibition section, visitors can explore the ecological differences between butterflies and moths, and learn about changes in biodiversity through climate change indicator species such as the southern small yellow butterfly. In addition, hands-on activities using magnifying glasses allow visitors to closely observe real specimens, encouraging direct exploration and understanding of living organisms.
The educational program also draws attention. Designed for young children and elementary school students, the “Butterfly Shrink Plastic Keyring Making” activity allows participants to draw butterflies on heat-shrink plastic sheets and create keyrings through a heating process. This program enhances both interest in biology and creativity among children.
Meanwhile, Director Park Jin-young attended the opening ceremony of the Hampyeong Butterfly Festival on April 24, congratulating the event and engaging in communication with visitors on-site.
Director Park stated, “We hope that programs combining exhibition and hands-on experiences will provide an opportunity for the public to more closely experience and empathize with the value of biodiversity.”
