기후에너지환경부 산하 국립호남권생물자원관(관장 박진영)이 어린이날을 맞아 온 가족이 함께 즐기며 배우는 생물다양성 체험 행사를 마련한다.

국립호남권생물자원관은 오는 5월 5일 어린이날을 맞아 전시관과 한국섬온실, 섬·연안생물교육관 일원에서 생물다양성 문화행사 ‘키즈바이오페스타’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 어린이와 가족 관람객이 생물다양성의 중요성을 쉽고 재미있게 이해할 수 있도록 공연, 체험교육, 생물나눔, 참여형 이벤트 등으로 구성된 체험 중심 문화행사다.
행사에서는 마술과 풍선을 결합한 참여형 공연이 하루 두 차례 진행돼 어린이들의 흥미를 끌고 가족 단위 관람객이 함께 즐길 수 있는 시간을 제공한다.

또한 꿀벌을 주제로 한 체험 교육 프로그램이 운영돼 꿀벌의 생태와 벌집 구조의 원리를 배우고, 협력 활동을 직접 체험할 수 있도록 구성됐다. 이를 통해 자연 속 생명의 역할과 생태계의 중요성을 직관적으로 이해할 수 있도록 돕는다.

이와 함께 어린이 동반 가족을 대상으로 자생식물인 ‘털머위’를 나누는 생물나눔 행사가 마련되며, 자원관 곳곳을 탐험하며 스탬프를 모은 뒤 참여하는 ‘행운의 뽑기 행사’도 운영돼 참여의 재미를 더할 예정이다.
특히 이번 행사는 입장료 외 모든 체험 프로그램을 무료로 운영해 누구나 부담 없이 참여할 수 있도록 했다.

박진영 국립호남권생물자원관 관장은 “어린이날을 맞아 가족이 함께 즐기며 생물다양성의 가치를 자연스럽게 체험할 수 있도록 이번 행사를 준비했다.”며 “앞으로도 국민과 함께하는 참여형 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 생물자원 보전의 중요성을 널리 알리겠다.”고 밝혔다.

한편 자원관은 이번 키즈바이오페스타를 통해 어린이날 특화 프로그램을 강화하고 관람객 참여 확대와 재방문 유도 효과를 기대하고 있다.

National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea Hosts ‘Kids Bio Festa’
Subtitle: Performances, hands-on programs, and plant sharing… A fully free, family-oriented biodiversity festival
The National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea (President Park Jin-young), under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, is organizing a special experiential event for Children’s Day where families can enjoy and learn together about biodiversity.
The institute announced that it will host the “Kids Bio Festa,” a biodiversity cultural event, on May 5 (Children’s Day) across its exhibition hall, the Island Greenhouse, and the Island & Coastal Biodiversity Education Center.
The event is designed as an experience-centered cultural festival featuring performances, hands-on educational programs, plant-sharing activities, and interactive events, allowing children and their families to easily and enjoyably understand the importance of biodiversity.
A participatory performance combining magic and balloon art will be held twice during the day, offering engaging entertainment for children and enjoyable moments for families.
In addition, a hands-on educational program themed around bees will be offered, where participants can learn about bee ecology and the structure of honeycombs while engaging in cooperative activities. This program aims to help visitors intuitively understand the role of living organisms and the importance of ecosystems.
The event will also include a “Plant Sharing” program, distributing a native plant (Farfugium japonicum) to families with children. Visitors can further enjoy a “Lucky Draw Event” by collecting stamps while exploring various areas of the institute.
Notably, all experience programs will be offered free of charge, with only general admission required, making the event accessible to everyone.
President Park Jin-young stated, “In celebration of Children’s Day, we have prepared this event so that families can naturally experience and enjoy the value of biodiversity together,” adding, “We will continue to expand participatory programs to raise public awareness of the importance of conserving biological resources.”
Meanwhile, the institute expects this Kids Bio Festa to strengthen its Children’s Day special programs, increase visitor participation, and encourage repeat visits.
