“학교급식에 전복이 쏙! 전남 전복어가 웃는다”

전라남도가 지역 수산물 소비 촉진과 어가 소득 안정을 위해 학생들의 급식 식탁에 ‘전복’을 올렸다.

전남도는 도내외 20개 초·중·고등학교 1만5천여 명을 대상으로 오는 11월까지 ‘전복 활용제품 학교급식 시식행사’를 진행한다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 전복 소비 부진과 산지가격 하락으로 어려움을 겪는 양식어가를 지원하고, 미래세대의 수산물 소비 기반을 확대하기 위해 마련됐다.

행사 기간에는 학생들이 선호하는 전복해조영양밥, 전복꼬치어묵, 슬라이스 전복 등 전복 활용 메뉴 3종이 학교급식으로 제공된다.

전남도는 이를 통해 전복의 영양적 가치와 우수성을 알리고, 지역 수산물이 학생들의 일상 속 식탁으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 할 계획이다.

손영곤 전라남도 수산유통가공과장은 “전복산업은 지역경제를 지탱하는 핵심 산업”이라며, “학교급식뿐 아니라 수입산 전복 제품의 국산화 지원을 통해 소비를 촉진하고 안정적인 수요 기반을 만들어가겠다.”고 말했다.

한편, 전남도는 11월 중 충북 진천 국가대표 선수촌 수산물 직거래 기획전과 취약계층 1천 세대 대상 연말 수산물 꾸러미 지원을 추진할 계획이다.

또한 2026년 상반기에는 대기업과 협력한 국산 전복 제품 출시를 준비 중이다.

이번 학교급식 시식행사는 전복 소비 확대와 어가 지원이라는 두 마리 토끼를 잡으며, 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

“Abalone on the School Menu! Smiles for Jeonnam’s Abalone Farmers”
— Jeonnam Province promotes local economy with abalone tasting events for 15,000 elementary, middle, and high school students —
Jeollanam-do Province has added abalone to students’ school meal menus to boost local seafood consumption and stabilize fishermen’s income.
The province announced that it will hold “Abalone-based School Meal Tasting Events” for about 15,000 students across 20 elementary, middle, and high schools within and outside Jeonnam through November.
The event aims to support abalone farmers facing management difficulties due to falling market prices and sluggish consumption, while fostering future generations of seafood consumers.
During the event, students will be served three abalone-based dishes — Abalone Seaweed Nutrition Rice, Abalone Skewer Fish Cake, and Sliced Abalone — through the school meal program. Jeonnam Province hopes to promote the nutritional value and excellence of abalone and to encourage local seafood to become a regular part of students’ daily diets.
Son Young-gon, Director of Jeonnam Province’s Fisheries Distribution and Processing Division, said,
“The abalone industry is a key pillar of the regional economy. Beyond school meals, we will continue to promote consumption and create stable demand by supporting the localization of imported abalone products.”
In addition, Jeonnam Province plans to host a seafood direct sales event at the Jincheon National Training Center in Chungbuk and provide year-end seafood gift sets to 1,000 low-income households in November. The province is also preparing to launch domestically produced abalone products in partnership with major corporations in the first half of 2026.
The school meal tasting program is expected to boost abalone consumption and support local fishing communities, bringing new vitality to the regional economy.
